about

This is I Ching Music's CD66, which is a single.

Bill Johnson lent me a copy of music by Julius Eastman. I find my reaction to music often is: "anybody could have written that."

I wrote this in response.

I feel that only I could have written this.

I used an alternation of the eight I Ching set that all have lake as the bottom treegram (+ + - ). The fixed keys for these range from Eb - E. I alternated and slightly overlapped each section in this pattern: 57, 50, 56, 51, 55, 52, 54, and 53. It starts in E and ends in Eb, which I think is a very non-traditional thing to do; a very uncommon thing to do.
